About & Editorial Policy

Quorum5 is an open web index built on the working principles of a curator's reference catalogue. Every entry accepted into the register is filed with a canonical domain name, a subject classification, and a brief descriptive annotation — held in a consistent format and made available for public consultation without charge. The index currently holds 840 records distributed across 22 subject sections, ranging from the broad general holdings of Open Stacks & Miscellaneous Holdings to the focused registers of Legal Chambers & Advisory Practice and Dental Practices & Oral Care. Each section functions as a self-contained finding aid, allowing a researcher to narrow their inquiry before browsing individual entries in filing order. Submissions are accepted at no charge. Proposers complete the standard intake form with a site domain and a preferred subject classification; entries that pass the review process are assigned a shelf position and incorporated into the live register within a reasonable processing period. The index does not charge for inclusion and does not prioritise any entry on commercial grounds. Quorum5 operates as a reference resource rather than a ranking mechanism. Entries appear in intake order, without editorial scoring, promotional weighting, or algorithmic sorting. A researcher consulting the index is expected to use the subject classification scheme as a first filter, then browse the relevant section to locate entries of interest. The register is maintained on a rolling basis. Subject-section headings are reviewed periodically to ensure the classification scheme remains applicable as new types of web presence emerge through the intake process.
